Last month the lab descended into the post-urban wilderness of the Toronto ravines.
We got to see some pretty wildlife, and we got some nice fotos:
There was plenty of time to talk science, especially during rain breaks.
Gurdeep was a good sport to chat to us about transcription factors while we huddled for cover under a mulberry tree. Although the ravines are generally below the city, we did manage to ascend to a few high points.
This view shows Toronto looking its dystopian best. We couldn’t have considered the hiking trip a success without some muddy boots and thanks to Purnima, we checked that box too.
Overall, it was a great hiking trip and we got to think about the big questions that will keep us pondering for this year. Thanks to Bob for organizing! Here’s a foto of most of us at lunch working on a new lab logo.
